Project Description

The ZCCT Foundation was established in Thailand in 2002. In this country, hundreds of children are innocently imprisoned simply because they were “present” when their mothers were arrested. These children are mainly from mountain villages inhabited by ethnic groups that are not officially recognized as Thai. Under the law, they have no legal status and no identity, which makes them extremely vulnerable.

Project Information

Due to extreme poverty, women are sometimes forced to, for example, smuggle opium to support their families. When they are arrested, they are unceremoniously thrown in prison, sometimes with their child, sometimes with their child left all alone in the mountain village.

To offer these children a safe place and a future, ZCCT has started a day center for children who are innocently detained. This initiative has since grown into a home in Chiangrai, where the children live as residents. Here, they receive daily care, education, and loving guidance. Your support contributes to housing, food, clothing, and school expenses, enabling the children to develop into independent, responsible young adults who can make a positive contribution to their community.

In addition, Baan Zion also supports children left behind in the villages with relatives. Often, these relatives are financially and emotionally unable to care for them properly. Through sponsorship, these children can still attend school, receive adequate food, and build a hopeful future.

What does the day look like:

The children get up daily at 5:30 AM. They take a shower, have breakfast, and get ready for school. The school day lasts from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. After school, there is time to play outside or play games together. The older children do their homework, and a large portion attend the University, which has its own program.

Upon returning home, the children are given a warm meal and have time for relaxation, such as listening to a story or watching a movie together. Around 7:00 PM, the children go to bed. On weekends, there are group activities where fun, relaxation, and togetherness are central.
