The project in Matola is run by the Dutch Corrie Ockhuysen and started in 2005. Corrie rented a house in Matola in 2005 and took in an orphaned boy next to her adopted daughter. After that, more children soon arrived who needed help.
The project mainly focuses on children with AIDS. Often malnourished and sick they are brought into the center. After various AIDS tests, hospital visits and the right medication, the children often blossom quickly. With the right guidance and in a safe warm house, the children often gain weight quickly and there is room for recovery. Thanks to sponsorship, they can go to school and build a hopeful future.
There are currently 60 children living in the orphanage, half of whom are now teenagers. The vision is to help children with AIDS, or children who have lost their parents to AIDS. The children's home is part of Iris Ministries.
