South Africa – Washable Care Packages

Thanks to the washable care packages, many teenage girls can still go to school.

Teenage girls

🌸 Care packages for teen girls-small gesture, big difference.

For many teenage girls in impoverished areas, their monthly period is not a given, but a source of shame, insecurity, and exclusion. Due to a lack of proper menstrual hygiene products, they are often unable to attend school during their periods.

Without sanitary pads or other menstrual hygiene products, girls stay home, often out of shame or fear of leakage. Sometimes during these days, they help with household chores or work elsewhere to contribute to the family income. It often happens that girls then do not return to school.

The consequences are significant.

Missing classes causes girls to fall behind in their schoolwork. They lose their self-confidence, become discouraged, and eventually drop out. This diminishes their opportunities for education, independence, and a better future. What begins as a practical problem grows into a life-altering disadvantage.

What does a care package do?

A care package contains hygiene products, underwear, and information. It gives girls:

Dignity
Self-confidence
Safety and hygiene
the possibility to just keep going to school

A care package removes shame and gives girls the freedom to keep learning and dreaming.

Just being a girl

Thanks to a care package, a girl doesn't have to hide or stay home. She can just go to school, laugh with her friends, learn, and play.

🌸 A small package gives a girl her future back.
