Just a few more days and the first region within the Netherlands is already on holiday. This means that a task is lost at Held@Home. Helping at school with non-native children. The greatest need is over at the school. Children and teachers are all for the most part back and recovered and the occupation is back in order.
Held@Home had such a wonderful time at the school and the children enjoyed it. In addition, the class has been helped a lot with the extra help and we have certainly been able to make a difference in recent months. The goal of Held@Home is to help where there is need and to provide help. We have certainly been able to achieve this in the past six months at the school.
The last few weeks we have been able to do nice things together, this as a goodbye and the end of the year. We went to the movies with the class, baked pancakes and played hide-and-seek in the gym. How beautiful it is to see how children can get loose in a game.
Held@Home has been pampered by the children by means of presents. As a thank you, the children had made a drawn hand. All with a thank you or kind word on it. Tears have also been shed. But saying goodbye is part of it and we bless these children in everything they do. A good foundation has been laid.
A large proportion of the children go to another school where they can enter regular education because they have sufficient command of the Dutch language. Some will stay at this school but go to another class and some will just return to this class next year where they will continue where they left off.
On behalf of Held@Home we would like to thank the children and teachers for their trust in us and the great working together with a common goal, to give these children a safe and trusted environment, in which they can grow in their development.
That is exactly what we stand for in our projects abroad, nice to have been able to do this in the Netherlands in this Corona time.
