Safe Haven Home is a children's home located in the state of Madhya Pradesh in India. The children in this project come from the Banchada community in central India. The "tradition" in this part of Madhya Pradesh is that the eldest daughter is offered for prostitution. The brothers are taken in to be the “pimp” from an early age and keep the earnings for themselves or given to the family. The girls thus earn the income for the whole family.
The girls are confronted with this from an early age. For the girls there is normally no escape, the only way out is to flee from the village with all the uncertainty that entails. Ramchand has rescued many girls from this tradition of human trafficking. The boys who are often obliged to cooperate in this are also given the opportunity to get out and can also be taken care of in the children's home where they are taught the correct norms and values.
In this way, these children are released from this tradition and a new generation is created to put a stop to this horrible tradition.
