Tamaxa was still young when she arrived in Machava, one of Project Held's projects. She came with her three sisters. The mother died and a great-grandmother took care of the sisters. The grandmother was old and did not have the strength and facilities to care for the girls or to gather food. There was a danger that if the grandmother died, the girls would end up in human trafficking or prostitution.

The grandmother with a heavy heart brought the sisters to the project because she knew she could no longer take care of the girls, a few years later the grandmother passed away.
Tamaxa has always been a cheerful and sweet girl and loved to learn. When Tamaxa was 11 years old, she chose to be baptized. For years Tamaxa has been supported by loyal sponsors through Project Held. A Mozambican company saw potential in Tamaxa and invested in her studies and so she could go to university! Tamaxa studied environmental engineering and is a great role model for other children around her.
Tamaxa is patient, helpful and has a loving character and that is what she wants to show the people around her. At the moment Tamaxa has a boyfriend and they are thinking about getting married. They go to church every week and want to do something together for the children and less fortunate in Mozambique.
This is one example of the difference you can make as a sponsor! Without our sponsors we cannot help children like Tamaxa and there is no prospect of a hopeful future for them. Choose to help one of the children who do not yet have a sponsor, but with a similar story to Tamaxa, and therefore become a sponsor!
