PROJECT IN Kenya

Hope4Hope Kenya

What does a day look like:

The children go to school from Monday to Friday. They get up at 6 am. The older children help with breakfast and also help the younger children get ready for school. School starts at 7 am. They brush their teeth twice a day, which is not common in Kenya. At 08:45 they return for breakfast consisting of bread or rice with vegetables and sometimes chicken for special occasions. Then they go back to school and return at 12:30 for lunch. Lunch consists of rice or beans with vegetables and an egg. Twice a week they get chapatti which is a delicacy in Kenya. At 16:45 the school is finished and they come back home where they participate in the football or dance project. The older children go to Boarding School. This is mandatory in Kenya. Your sponsor contribution provides for education, food and shelter.

Project information:

Hope4Hope is located in Mombasa in Kenya. Officially started in 2010 for children of Likoni village. Due to poverty, the children could not go to school and had to work in the stone mines. Project leader Reginold Odhiambo has started a football project to activate the children and give them a goal. At the moment this has been expanded with a school project, a food project, a dance and music project, a children's center and a youth center.

In Kenya, the difference between rich and poor is very large. This is why children and young people often turn to criminals out of boredom and hopelessness, often they get into drugs. The goal of Hope4Hope is to show the young people that there is hope and teach them to use their talents in a positive way. When they come together in a safe environment, they are encouraged to do well. It is important for young people to find and develop their talents. Bringing young people together is a good opportunity to tell them about God and show his love. Your support provides your sponsor child with food, school and teaching materials, housing and medical care, so that a great future perspective is offered and in which they can realize their dreams.

School desk
Hope4hope, one of our projects in Kenya, miraculously has a school building at its disposal. Children from the neighborhood who cannot go to school can still receive education! In addition to the building, they obviously need much more to start the school. https://youtu.be/vyvjJr0Yhcw?si=ARdX8FtGLPtxnSTn

Soccer shoes
A poor family in Africa often does not have enough money to send their child(ren) to school. Therefore, they will soon "force" their daughters to marry early so that they are taken care of. For these young women there is no chance to learn and build on their qualities and gifts. Hope4hope in Kenya has decided to include these young women in the football trajectory. In this way they can build on their qualities and limits and also look up and indicate these. In this way they make themselves more resilient and they are stronger in society. There is such great enthusiasm that unfortunately there is always a shortage of football boots, balls and clothing. Especially the shoes wear out quickly and playing football barefoot causes the necessary injuries. These girls are very happy with their own pair of shoes! It gives them the chance to fight, train and get stronger in the game. you see the girls liven up day by day. Sometimes they are on the field before dawn and can't wait to get started. Will you help with a new set of football boots? You have no idea how grateful they are to you!
