Zechariah 7:9-10
β€˜This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Judge fairly, and show mercy and kindness to one another. Do not oppress widows, orphans, foreigners, and the poor. And do not plot against each other.''
Dear reader,

Although Project Held seems like a small foundation, we make a huge difference in the lives of hundreds of children and our hearts are overflowing with gratitude.

It may seem like a drop in the ocean, but we see that, together with all our loyal sponsors, we really do make a difference in the lives of the children. In this newsletter, we want to take you along in what we have been able to do for these children in the past period.

Emotional testimony

As you can imagine, the children we support have often been through a lot before they were taken in. Here is a beautiful testimony from our contact person in Uganda! She tells us that years ago she found a girl in a cemetery in South Sudan where this girl lived. She was lovingly taken in and grew up in the children's home.

The girl fought her way through life! A few months ago, she was able to participate in a Father's Heart retreat in Jinja. Project Held helps to pay for these retreats for the young adults in our projects. We have now seen that these are truly life-changing weeks. See here the beautiful and emotional testimony of a homeless girl who became a daughter of God!

Violence against women in Kosovo

Arben (a fictitious name for his safety) is a boy from Kosovo who has been through a lot in his young life. His family lives in extreme poverty, and the family of four children has been supported by Project Held for some time. Recently, their situation has deteriorated even further. Following a domestic escalation so serious that authorities had to intervene, Arben's mother was forced to quickly leave their home with the children.
Given that the father is the main breadwinner, the family faces a huge challenge in building a new life from scratch. Although they have found temporary shelter, urgent help is needed to support them through this difficult time. With the assistance of the local church, Stichting de Brug, and Project Held, the costs for the apartment for the coming year are covered. Furthermore, €3250 is needed to cover other expenses such as water, electricity, and groceries. We have launched a campaign to raise this amount for the family. In the meantime, €1295 has already been raised! If you would like to help this family, you can donate via the link below.

Maintenance on the Nofam app

Last weekend, the Nofam app, which allows you to correspond with your sponsor child and the project they are part of, underwent major maintenance. As far as we can tell, this went well. We would like to ask you to log in to the app (again) so that you can continue to receive notifications from your sponsored child(ren). These notifications remind you that you've received something in the app or that it's time to share something with your sponsor child again.
We also want the app to be used for multiple purposes in the future, allowing you as a sponsor to become an ambassador for the project your sponsored child is part of. For example, by sharing a child who doesn't yet have a sponsor with friends or family, or by sharing project updates on social media. This way, together we can make an even bigger difference for these children! With small actions, you can make a big impact! Of course, we will keep you informed about this via our social media and newsletter!

Floods in India

In recent months, India has experienced significant rainfall, leading to several river floods. The Vijayawada district was particularly affected by exceptionally heavy rainfall in early September. As two of our projects are located there, this was a challenging period. Fortunately, the children and homes involved in Project Held were unharmed, but they are facing difficulties due to limited transportation, food shortages, and an increase in pests.

However, we have received an emergency call from our project leaders to help the population, who already do not have much, with food and clean drinking water. We at Project Held help where we can, but if you would also like to help these people to provide for their basic needs, you can do so via the link below.
If a bank transfer isn’t possible for you, you can always make an additional donation via PayPal.

Schools in Kenya have also started again

In Europe, schools have all started again, and also in Africa! In our country, it is normal for children to go to school, and everything is generally well organized. Unfortunately, this is not the case in Kenya, for example… In our previous newsletter, you could read that the Hopeforhope project in Kenya has started its own school and that this comes with its own challenges. One of the requests for help that came in from our contact person was a major shortage of school desks. As a result, the children cannot go to school.

From Project Held, we have decided to donate 10 school desks, €30 each, so that 30 more children can attend school. More school desks are still needed. If you would like to help with this, you can donate a school desk through our webshop!

Click here and see how thankful and happy they are.
Thank you for your involvement with our projects and children. It makes such a big difference to our projects to know that they are not alone. We and/or they don't do it alone; we do it together!

We wish you a very blessed day, from Project Held, Viviane and Tine
