From a safe childhood to an independent future
Almost twenty years ago, Project Held began supporting children growing up in vulnerable and difficult circumstances. Since then, we have had the privilege of helping more than 1.000 children by providing access to education, a safe environment, and a foundation in faith. Many of these children have now grown up and are building lives of their own. What a blessing!
But as children grow older, their needs change. Young people want to continue their education, find work, and stand on their own two feet. This is not easy in countries where opportunities and resources are limited. It is during this important stage of their lives that we want to continue standing alongside them.
That is why, in addition to child sponsorship, we have established an education and entrepreneurship fund. Through this fund, we help young people, whenever possible, to pursue further education or start their own businesses. Not every plan works out, but setbacks can also be valuable learning experiences.
For example, we helped a group of young people in Mozambique set up a printing business. When the income was not enough, we explored new opportunities together. They decided to start offering M-Pesa services, a widely used mobile payment system. Project Held provided the necessary start-up capital and a phone. This is what we want to encourage in young people: don't give up, dare to start again, and keep looking for opportunities.
The way we support young people changes as they grow, but our goal remains the same: to give them hope for the future, even as they take their first steps towards independence.
This also inspired them to develop a new product: a refreshing apple-cinnamon flavored yogurt drink! The print shop helped them design and print the labels. A wonderful example of how entrepreneurship can grow when young people take initiative, discover new opportunities, and support one another by working together.
Will you help give young entrepreneurs a chance?
This additional support requires more resources than regular child sponsorship. That is why we could really use your help! Are you an entrepreneur, or would you like to help a young person build a future of their own? Perhaps you could contribute financially, share your ideas, or offer your knowledge and experience.

In 2027, together with Heroes for Charity, we are taking on the challenge for Project Held!
Heroes for Charity organizes physical challenges to raise funds for charitable causes. Project Held is joining forces with them for a special mission: to help young women in Kenya build a brighter future. Together with a group of 14 participants, we will walk part of the Camino de Santiago.

Tine and Viviane from Project Held will lead this challenge and take part in it themselves!
We are taking steps for young women in Kenya who have been victims of human trafficking and sexual exploitation. With the funds raised, we want to give them the opportunity to follow a training course, enabling them to start their own small businesses and work towards an independent future, free from exploitation.
For just €150, a young woman can take a training course to become a nail technician or hairdresser and receive a starter kit with the supplies she needs to get started.
We have created a dedicated fundraising page where you can read more about this challenge and make a donation to support these young women in Kenya.
Every donation helps give these women new opportunities, freedom, and hope for the future.

Give a tree, give hope!
At our Hope4Hope project in Kenya, the goal is to grow vegetables and fruit to become more self-sufficient. That is why they are planting as many trees as possible, helping to create healthy, fertile soil and improve future harvests.
The first trees have already been planted! Together with the children from the project, they celebrated this special moment with a festive tree-planting day.
Would you like to contribute too? Through our webshop, you can donate a tree for just €25. You will also find many other meaningful gifts that help spread hope and create new opportunities. Take a look by clicking the button below and discover which gift is right for you!

Knowing how loved you are
At Project Held, we believe it is important for every child and everyone involved in our projects to know who they are in Christ and to experience how deeply loved they are. God's Father Heart plays an important role in this. In Uganda and Kenya, we have already had the opportunity to offer a Father's Heart School to dozens of young people. Many of these young people have lost one or both of their biological parents, but through this school, they discovered that they are beloved sons and daughters of their Heavenly Father. We also want to share this message in India. That is why we were able to send one of our local contacts and his wife to a Father's Heart conference, so they can share this beautiful message with the children in the children's home.

Viviane van der Bijl's book was born out of that same vision. She wrote an interactive 60-day devotional about identity, helping readers discover who they are in Christ.
Each day includes a devotional reading, a reflection question, a prayer, and a QR code linking to an original song written by Viviane, available on Spotify.
The book can be ordered at www.come2life.nu. Please mention "Helden" in the comments when placing your order. A portion of the proceeds will then go towards supporting the young women in Kenya! In this way, together we not only provide practical support but also share the message that every person is valuable and deeply loved.
