Dear Sponsor,

In Deuteronomy 32:30 it says (New King James Version): How could one chase a thousand, AAnd two put ten thousand to flight... this text is often used when there is a struggle for victory and you stand together in the breach to achieve a breakthrough.

What if we also use this for all the children living in poverty, who see no future in their young lives and have to survive every day just to find food? What if we join forces to stand in the gap for these children, rescuing them from poverty one by one? The Word says we can achieve more when we work together. Thank you for your help, in any way whatsoever!

This is the desire of Project Held, standing in the gap for those who can't do it themselves and making a difference together with our projects!

Project Hero Foundation

A lot of hard work has been done behind the scenes recently to make Project Held an independent foundation. We are proud to announce that this has been the case since July 1st! The Project Held Foundation now has a three-member board consisting of Alfons Buis, Iwan van den Broek and Henk Kotterink. All three are deeply involved in the work of Project Held and have a heart for orphans and widows. In addition, they are very knowledgeable in the field of foundations, finance, accounting, and missionary work. We are very happy with this board and hope to promote Project Held even further together with them. Since last week, the Project Held Foundation has been registered with the Chamber of Commerce. We will keep you informed about further developments through our newsletters.

Update Esther Home Kenya

Teenage girls who are pregnant are cared for at the Esther Home. They are often rejected by their families, and there is a lot of shame surrounding the pregnancy. Many girls became pregnant through rape, which of course has a huge impact on them. Recently, two new pregnant girls have been taken in and are being guided as best as possible towards their birth. Caren is the new social worker. She herself was cared for at the Esther Home years ago because she became pregnant at 13. After high school, she studied social work. She recently started working at Esther Home and is a huge asset! The girls are very fond of her and are very open with Caren because she has experienced the exact same thing and knows what the girls are going through. In addition, she teaches them many things, such as baking, working with beads, and crocheting.

Gratitude in Kosovo

From Kosovo, we received the message that the children and elderly are very grateful to all sponsors. They feel very blessed to receive this help. Not only is the financial assistance greatly appreciated, but also the letters they receive from their sponsor. The children are very happy to have the opportunity to go to school and to buy clothes and shoes with the money from Project Held. One of the elderly women, widowed for two years, states that she finds enormous comfort in the support she receives through Project Held. On behalf of all the children and elderly from Kosovo, thank you so much for your support!

Letters to the projects

As you have just read, the children and the elderly are very happy when they receive a letter from their sponsor. One of the older children from Kosovo said that receiving a letter makes her feel loved and that she feels someone is looking out for her. It fills her heart with immense joy! For example, we plan to send all letters we’ve received to our projects at the beginning of August; if you’d like to send another letter, you can do so before August 1st! We’ll then make sure it reaches your sponsored child. If you do not have Project Held stationery, you can also use regular stationery, but it is important that you include your sponsored child’s reference number and/or your sponsor number. We often hear from sponsors that they find it difficult to write a letter, so we have a number of tips to help you get started. For example, the children really enjoy receiving a photo from you; you can find more tips on our website. You can send your letter to Project Held, PO Box 217, 3840 AE Harderwijk, the Netherlands.

Letters to your sponsored child

Having a sponsor really makes a big difference in a child’s life. One of the ways it helps is by enabling the child to go to school. If you go to school, you’ll have many more opportunities in the future to find a job and support yourself. As a result, they are able to escape poverty. It also helps the children connect with one another.
In many of our projects, the children in the centers live together with other children because their parents are unable to care for them, provide a safe environment, or because one or both parents have passed away.

Food Distribution in India

Our contacts in India care for many orphans and also run food distribution projects for the poorest of the poor. In recent weeks, they have been working hard again with various teams to provide as many poor people as possible with a hot meal. The need in India is very high, so we are very grateful for all the additional donations, which allow us to distribute extra meals and food packages. If you’d like to contribute as well, visit our online store and donate a food package for €7.50.

In addition to food parcels, two sewing machines have also been distributed to widows and a tricycle to a woman with leprosy. Together, we are making a difference for people in need.

Food package for the poor

India is a poor country with a wide gap between the rich and the poor. Street life in India is well known. People who beg because they have nothing. You can already make a big difference by donating a food package. Then they won’t have to go out on the streets to beg, and they can get healthy food that will make them physically stronger. A warm meal a week would make a huge difference—could you help make that happen?

Held@Home

As you have read, Held@Home has been active in a nursing home and at a school in recent months. You can read more about this on our news page. Last week, we said goodbye to the children at the school. We look back with gratitude and satisfaction on a wonderful time during which we were able to participate and assist when COVID-19 had a major impact on education. See below for the latest provisional news item from Held@Home.
Farewell 1-2

Held@Home

Just a few more days and the first region in the Netherlands will be on holiday. This means one less task for Held@Home. Helping children at school with foreign language support. The greatest need has passed at the school. For the most part, children and teachers have all returned and recovered, and operations are back to normal.
Thank you very much for your involvement. Together we are helping the children towards a better future. This means a great deal to us and certainly to our projects!
Have a good weekend.,
Kind regards, Tine and Viviane
