A Valuable cooperation with you
Here is another newsletter with updates about our projects.
First, we would like to thank you very much for your support. We mention it often but you really are a huge blessing to the sponsor children. Without your support, we cannot do as much as we do now. We experience this as a very valuable cooperation with you.
The financial help you provide is of course essential for the children. But not only that! These children have often been through so much that it is very encouraging for them to know that there is someone somewhere in the world who is thinking of them and praying for them. This is invaluable!

New item in our webshop
As you now know, we have a webshop ( also in English now) full of beautiful gifts to give away to our projects. For example, you can buy a goat for Kenya and a sewing machine for India. In addition to the range of gifts to give away, we have added a very important item, a washable care package for the teenage girls in South Africa.

We can hardly imagine, but in South Africa it is the case that sanitary towels are often not available for the teenage girls. The result is that they do not go to school out of shame. In this way they fall behind in school and some girls do not go to school at all. In a very simple way we can help these girls by giving them a care package consisting of: 1 washcloth, 1 piece of soap, 2 sets of underwear, 4 inserts and 2 protectors. A care package costs only € 15 and makes a real difference in the lives of these girls. You can order the care package here.

Washable care package
Many high school teenage girls in Africa miss an average of 1 school week a month because they cannot go to school during their monthly period. The people in the villages have no money to buy the necessary facilities for this.

Hipolito is a 23 year old boy sponsored by Project Held. At the moment he lives next door to our home. He lived with us for about 11 years and we still guide him now. Fortunately, not every child has to experience what Hipolito has endured. He was born with the HIV virus. His mother died early. His stepmother neglected him and eventually locked the door, hoping that Hipolito would die. But God had other plans and after a long time of coma and recovery, he ended up with us. As a child he also had gangrene, which left one foot handicapped. Now he is in hospital with diabetes and malaria. Through prayer and God's intervention, he is still alive! The situation has been very critical last week. The bad news is that his foot has yet to be amputated this week. Will you pray for a quick recovery after surgery and that he will know that God is with him and has promised him a hopeful future?

We at Project Held are very committed to this boy and will help where we can with a possible prosthesis and a wheelchair.

New children's home in Uganda

In Uganda, they have been busy for months at a new children's home for the children of Iris Ministries. Construction is progressing very well and as it looks now, all children and staff will settle there in August. Something they are really looking forward to!

In Thailand, Baan Zion, the girls are now enjoying a well-deserved vacation. In the past period they have studied very hard for last week's exams. Normally they would now have a long summer vacation, but due to the many canceled lessons by Covid-19, it has been decided to shorten the vacation to 2 weeks. In Thailand there is very strict supervision of children's homes. Last week they had the annual inspection again and everything has been approved, always an exciting moment!

As you may have seen in the news, violence in Myanmar is on the rise. The army shoots targeted protesters and even small children are not spared. An extremely worrisome and dangerous situation for the citizens. Many companies have been forced to close for at least 50 days. Many people are now in financial difficulties and their freedom has been taken away from them. Let us pray in unison for this beautiful people who already have so much tribulation experienced.

Psalm 145: 9 He fulfills the desire of those who honor him, he hears their complaint and comes to the rescue.
We are in close contact with pastor Philip from Myanmar, he and his wife take care of the children who are supported by Project Held. They are well looked after, last month we were able to make an extra donation because food prices have risen enormously.

Held@Home still goes to school every week to help the children. The effects of Covid-19 are very noticeable at school. Several teachers have had Corona, or have Corona, which makes the presence of sufficient teachers increasingly difficult. Every week Held@Home helps one morning at this school, which means more time and attention for the children. Together, shoulder to shoulder, we get through this period. On the website we write a short report of these moments each time, so you get a little insight into the activities of these children.

Easter
The week before Easter, what a special time to participate in the school. Considering this is a public school, they treat Easter as a common household name and it's mostly about eggs and spring. Throughout the lessons and activities you can see how the children appreciate each other and accept each other despite their differences.
