After a period of rest, vacation, family visits, and time at the center, the final school term arrives for most children. A time to improve their grades, participate in sports, and work hard together for their future. Whether they live in the center or have to travel miles to school, one thing is certain: they are giving their all to achieve their dreams. Looking Back on India: Hope for the Untouchables
|
|
Earlier this year, in February, a small team from Project Held traveled to India. During this special trip, we visited our orphanages and spent time with the children we are able to help thanks to your support. But the journey also took us to a place that deeply moved us: a leper colony, where people live who have been ostracized by society the so-called "untouchables."
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
These people, mainly elderly men and women, live in dire conditions. Many of them have been abandoned by their families and live in extreme poverty. During our visit, we had the opportunity to distribute food packages and clothing, a moment of connection and encouragement that touched us all deeply.
|
|
We felt strongly that our work there should not end. Thanks to your support, we have now started a sustainable aid program for this leper colony.
|
✔️ Every day, approximately 25 elderly people now receive a warm, nutritious meal.
✔️ They receive a food package every month.
✔️ And we are currently working on providing them with tables and chairs, so they no longer have to sit on the ground while eating.
|
|
|
|
Yet, this is just the beginning. Much more is needed to provide these people with a dignified existence. Think of good medical care, better housing, and long-term sustainable support.

Hope4Hope: A New School Bus for the Children in Kenya
In Kenya, our project Hope4Hope supports children who grow up in difficult circumstances. Many of these children come from poor families where access to education and nutritious meals is not a given. Thanks to Hope4Hope, they can go to school, receive a warm meal every day, and dream of a better future.

Until recently, the children had to travel in an old, worn-out van, which was far too small and barely managed the bumpy roads of Kenya. Hundreds of children would wait for hours each day to get a place on the bus. The old van had been worn down over the years, and each ride was an uncomfortable experience for the children.
|
|
But there was hope. Hope4Hope's dream was to acquire a real school bus, one that could transport many more children and provide them with a safe and comfortable ride to school.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
And now that dream has come true! A few weeks ago, they found a beautiful bus, but they were still short on funds to make the purchase. Thanks to Project Held, the purchase of the bus was made possible. The children are thrilled, and the Hope4hope team is also extremely grateful that this major step has been taken.
|
|

A Child of Hope4Hope

We’d like to close the newsletter with the story of Isaac, a boy who is now able to attend school and pursue his dreams, thanks to Hope4Hope.
|
|
Isaac comes from a family of 11 children. His father works in the stone mines for € 2 per day, and his mother lost her job during the pandemic.
|
|
Because resources at home were limited, Isaac had to miss out on an education for a long time. Yet, he has always had a dream: to become a soldier and make his family proud.
|
|
Thanks to Hope4Hope, Isaac can now attend school. With the new school bus, he travels safely to school every day, and his future is looking brighter.
|
|
|
|
|
|
His dream for the future is to join the army and become a soldier. Isaac comes from a family of 11 children. His father works in the mines and earns about 2 euros a day. His mother had a job but lost it during the coronavirus pandemic and has not yet been able to find a new one. …
