A new season for Project Held
A lot has happened in the last year and a half… it all started with Covid-19 which meant that we had to start working from home from March 2020. Because this took so long, we canceled our office in Ermelo. Project Held had been under the banner of House of Heroes for years, so when this church stopped, it was time to switch for Project Held.
Of course, we wanted to continue to help and support all those beautiful children who often have to grow up without parents. For this, it was necessary to make Project Held its own foundation. This worked! But not only that, the Project Held Foundation has now also received its own ANBI status (a public benefit organization). We are very happy about this! We are therefore enthusiastically looking forward to the new season ahead of us and are busy making new plans.
For example, we want to collaborate more with other foundations and churches in order to help even more children. To achieve this, it was very important for Project Held to rent an office again. In a miraculous way, an office in Harderwijk has come our way – the very office where Project Held once started.
We are very pleased with this and look forward to the collaborations that will take place here. It is a 61-square-meter office, and we would love to have a co-tenant. So if you are looking for office space in Harderwijk, please contact us by sending an email to [email protected].

A water well in India
As you know, Project Held has a beautiful web shop where gifts can be purchased for our projects. Thanks to our sponsors and followers, we've already been able to give away many chickens, goats, Bibles, sewing machines, food packages, and more.
It is also possible to gift a water pump in India through our webshop for €900. Last month, a wonderful purchase was made for a water pump, and this has already been realized. We asked our contact person, Rajkumar, what this means for the people there.
Rajkumar: 'The water pump is located in a village called Lanka Tippa. The people here have been asking the government for a water pump for years, but no one could help them with clean drinking water. The pump that was donated provides enough water for 200 families! It is publicly owned, which means anyone can use it for free. Many families have been greatly helped by this.'
Our goal is to help many more people with clean drinking water. How nice is it to be able to donate a water pump with your company or through a sponsor action! You can do this via our webshop. A nice detail is that your name or company appears on the water pump. See here A water well is made by drilling a hole into the ground until it reaches an underground source of water, called an aquifer. A casing, usually a large pipe, is then inserted into the hole to prevent it from collapsing. A screen or filter is attached to the bottom of the casing to keep out sediment and debris. Finally, a pump is installed to bring the water to the surface.

Update on the Situation in Myanmar
At the beginning of February this year, a coup took place in Myanmar. It was all over the news at the time. Now, more than six months later, we hardly hear anything about it anymore, but the situation in Myanmar remains dire.
Last week we had a video call with our contact person from the Win Myanmar Mission children’s home, whose children are supported by Project. He told us that the situation is still very dangerous; they can’t just go out on the street. There is a lot of violence, and food prices have skyrocketed. Even though the children often have to stay indoors, classes continue, and this provides the necessary structure.
During the video call, we were allowed to interrupt the lesson and greet the children. Almost all the children had been quite ill in the past period, so it was good to see them healthy and well again. Last month, Project Held was able to transfer an extra gift for medicines and healthy food for the children. Let's pray for this country and for "our" children.

In previous newsletters, we took you through the construction process in Uganda. A beautiful new children's village has now been built a few kilometers from the old children's home. The foundation of Iris Ministries Uganda is a fact! See Carolyn's own report. here.

A beautiful house with many possibilities, the photos speak for themselves! In early September, everything was moved to the new location, an exciting and fun event for all the children with the big surprise of two new housemates, Sabi (a friend) and Simba (a lion), two German Shepherd puppies. Still a bit uneasy, the puppies have started making many new friends. The children have not been able to attend classes at school since March 2020. The government has decided to keep schools closed for the time being, so it has come down to homeschooling. Fortunately, the new house offers more space for that.
On top of all that, the government has again given permission for the operation of Iris Ministries Uganda and has extended it for 5 years!

Teenage Girls in Kenya
The Esther Home in Kenya cares for teenage girls who often became pregnant through rape. Due to Covid-19, teenage girls are at even greater risk of abuse or rape, and they cannot go to school, which is often a safe haven. They are therefore at home a lot, while their parents are away frequently to earn money. Girls are regularly raped or lured by men in their own homes.
So, Edna is a teenage girl, just 13 years old, and she gave birth to her daughter Velinda last month. Fortunately, she was very pregnant at the Esther Home in Kenya, where she was accompanied for the birth. Here she is now, learning to take care of her child and dealing with trauma. When it's possible again, she will resume school to continue building her future and that of her child. We really want both Edna and Velinda to get a sponsor. Would you like to sponsor one or both of them? Click below and help a child in need today!

Edna Cheptoo
Edna is the fifth child in a poor family with nine members. Edna was in the 6th grade when she was forbidden from attending school due to her illness, Corona. A neighbor asked if Edna could help with household chores, as the neighbor was often away from home and didn't have time for them. During this period, the man of the house abused Edna, and she became pregnant.

This was this month's update again. We hope and pray that it finds you in good health. In this way, we can show you how important it remains to pray for and support our projects. Each and every one of them can truly use our help and prayers, not only for themselves but also to help others!
Together, we make a difference in the lives of those in need, time and time again.
