Newsletter Project Held June 2020
Through this newsletter we keep you informed of the latest news of our projects.

Impact of Covid-19

The impact of the Covid-19 virus and its impact on our projects is enormous. The Lock down in particular causes problems. For example, the children no longer go to school but receive home education. This also means that more mouths need to be fed during the day. Food prices have skyrocketed and school supplies are hard to come by. We have maintained close contact with our contacts and are impressed by their motivation to care not only for the children but also for those around them who are struggling. For example, they distribute extra food packages, meals and soap to the poor. This is the true gospel, "love your neighbor as yourself". We are therefore very grateful that with the help of your gifts and prayers our projects have been able to do this.

Thinking about the future

Slowly but surely, the projects are also looking to the future. They have found a way in home teaching. As it seems, the children will only be able to return to school after the holidays. Despite the difficult time, the children grew closer, spent more time together, and had more time to study the Bible.

Sponsorship is an important basis

You as a sponsor does not only make a difference in a child's life. The children's home where they live, the environment, school and community are also positively influenced. In addition to sponsoring a child, you help build a country in poverty.
That is why we will introduce a number of children to each newsletter. Would you like to pray and think about whether there is someone in your area who would like to sponsor one of these children?

This time, Elissy from Kenya and Tumelo from South Africa:

Elissy Steven

Kenya:

Elissy is the oldest in a family with two children. When Elissy was almost two years old, her mother died. The children were left with their grandmother who worked hard, but could barely provide enough food for the children. She has asked Hope4hope for help so that the children can go to school and build their future. Elissy loves to read and dance and dreams of working in the hospital in the future.

Tumelo Fortune Mohale
South Africa:

Tumelo has a twin brother Tumiso. Their father died when they were two years old. The mother looks after another woman's baby with whom she makes a little money, but that was not enough to take care of her family. Thanks to sponsorship, Tumelo can go to school and build his future. Tumelo loves to play football and in the future he wants to become a judge.

Letters from your sponsor child

We are currently living in a weird time worldwide. There is still little normal and self-evident, even with our projects. Due to the Lockdown of a great part of the world, it is difficult, if not impossible, for our projects to get the children to write the letters and send them. Not all children live in the children's home. A number of projects have different shelters where the children live. Some homes have had to divide the children because they are not allowed to be together with too many people. For these reasons, they unfortunately cannot comply with sending the letters. As soon as this is possible again you will receive letters again but we ask for your understanding and patience.

Mission trips

Every year we try to visit some of our projects together with a team. This is very encouraging for the projects and the children and they are always looking forward to it! Also it is always a special experience for both, the projects and the travelers. During these trips it is possible to visit your sponsor child, participate in the project and taste their culture. We also spread the gospel wherever possible and hand out food, medicine and toys to those who need it. As you may understand, we cannot currently determine when we will be allowed to travel safely. This depends on the airlines and the countries we travel to. On our website we still have planned trips, but this may change soon, as we will have to adjust our schedule to the current and future situation.

If you are interested in visiting your sponsor child and / or going on a mission trip, we ask you to send a message to info@projectheld.nl. We can include this in our planning.
