Dear sponsor,

Sometimes sadness and joy are close together. Grief because you lost someone. Joy and gratitude when you can help so many children to build their futures whose chances would otherwise be nil. We often don't understand everything, but we should never doubt one thing: GOD IS GOOD! ALL THE TIME!

Our beloved ambassador passed away

We are deeply saddened to announce that our ambassador, friend, hero and example Paulina Zoetebier passed away on 2 June. Most people knew her as a fantastic singer, but she also had a beautiful heart for that one! During our travels with Project Held we saw her beautiful loving heart for the children, the widows and the poor. We will never forget Paulina! She is an example for many, heaven is now a treasure richer. During one of our trips Paulina wrote a beautiful song for Project Held, the song is called Chosen One.

Update Project Held Foundation

As we indicated in our previous newsletter, we are working on making Project Held an independent foundation. In recent weeks, for example, we have been busy drafting the statutes and writing a policy plan. These are now at the notary and have now been approved, we are very happy with this! As it looks now, the foundation will be a fact at the beginning of July. We are looking forward to growing and rescuing even more children out of poverty and giving them a chance at a bright future!

Just a little patience and then the policy plan can be found on the website www.projectheld.nl

Kenya emergency call

Safina is a 13-year-old girl and one of the best players on the soccer team of the Hope4Hope children's home in Kenya. Three weeks ago, Safina became very ill and had to be urgently examined in the hospital. Unfortunately, there was no money for this and Project Held was approached to pay for these studies. We transferred the money that same day. She turned out to have a congenital abnormality in the abdomen that needed urgent surgery. She had a number of cysts in the abdomen that caused severe abdominal pain and prevented menstruation. Thanks to emergency surgery, she is now much better. Safina comes from a very poor family and that's why we decided to include her in our sponsorship program. So she is looking for a sponsor!

Food distribution in India

In India, Pastor Abraham Kuchipudi and his team have been busy distributing rice and fresh vegetables to poor widows. These widows often live on the street because their husbands have died and their income has disappeared. Our contact person, pastor Abraham wants to help as many people as possible by handing out food. Last month, Project Held received a nice gift that enabled hundreds of widows to be helped. We are extremely grateful for this.

Online contact with mothers in prison

The girls in the children's home in Thailand are there because their mothers, often years ago, had to go to prison for drug possession. The often poor mothers are promised money if they smuggle drugs. If they are caught, it is normal in Thailand that the children also go to prison. Often for many years. The children are rescued from this plight and taken care of at Baan Zion, a children's home in Thailand that is run by the Dutch. Jan and Ellen Smith. Due to the whole situation surrounding Covid-19, it was not possible for the girls to visit their mother in prison. Last month it became possible for the girls to see their mother via an online chat for the first time in a long time. Of course it's not the same as a live meeting but they were very happy about this and are very grateful.

Lockdown in Uganda

While things are going in the right direction here in the Netherlands and more and more is possible, a lockdown has been announced in Uganda in the vicinity of the children's village of Carolyn (Iris Ministries). The children will not go to school for 42 days and are not allowed to leave the site. A big challenge with so many children in a not too big place. Carolyn and her team do everything they can to help the children with schoolwork and organize daily sports activities to do with the children. The atmosphere is very good and the children and carers enjoy the organized sports and games events on the site.

The final work

Categories: Held@Home

Just a few more weeks of hard work and then the summer holidays will start at the school where Held@Home is helping. A number of children have made great strides and it is great fun to see and hear how well they master the Dutch language. For others it is still a big barrier to speak Dutch and write the words. But all the children have certainly reached 1 or 2 levels read more
We would like to thank you from our hearts for your involvement. Together we help the children to a better future. This means a lot to us and certainly to our projects!
Have a blessed weekend,
