What does a day look like:
In Uganda the day starts early. Breakfast is served together with bread and tea, after which the children go to school. The older children stay in the children's home where they help with various chores. A number of children attend boarding school and are only home on weekends. When the younger children come back from school, they also help with the various chores. Of course there is also time to relax, play games and do homework. In the evening all the children come together to eat and pray. Dinner usually consists of rice, beans and vegetables. Once a week the children get chicken and once a week they get fish. The children receive acrobatics lessons which has a positive effect on their self-confidence and development and they also have worship evenings.
Project information:
Foodstep in Uganda was founded 16 years ago by the Belgian couple Werner and Nathalie. They were touched by the need of the many street children, children from the children's prison and severely neglected children. They started in their own house with 2, then 15 and eventually 50 children. They decided to buy a piece of land and create a warm house on it. Together with a team of social workers, foster mothers, administrative staff, cooks, drivers, pastor, etc., Foodstep has grown into a beautiful, safe and loving place for the children. All children living there have been placed there by child protection and the judge, their situation was unsustainable. Children at Foodstep all go to school, receive good medical help, nutritious meals, social care, but above all a lot of love!
Your support provides your sponsor child with daily food, education and school materials, housing and medical care, so that the children have a great future perspective and can realize their dream.
