Looking Back

Through this newsletter, we want to look back on an eventful and difficult year, but also a year in which many wonderful things have happened. It's sometimes hard to focus on the good things in a time when so much is being taken away from us. Yet, together with our projects, we've chosen not to dwell on what's no longer possible, but to focus on what still is! Once again, it has become clear that with God, nothing is impossible.

Food packages

For example, thanks to your help, we were able to support our projects during Covid-19. Think of the many extra food packages that were distributed, or the thousands of hygiene packages that could be given to the poorest in India, for instance. Many of our projects suddenly had to switch to remote learning, and we were able to donate many extra materials like notebooks and other essentials.

Self-sufficiency

The projects have certainly not been abandoned, but we've started thinking in terms of possibilities, such as with our Tshega project in South Africa. The entire COVID-19 situation has led them to decide to become completely self-sufficient. Currently, they have a gigantic harvest of fruits and vegetables, enough for their own use and also for sale. This has also been made possible thanks to your donation!

The lockdown also had major consequences in Thailand, but the girls in the children's home put their shoulders to the wheel and made the best of it. Here is a video of their activities during this lockdown.

Held@Home

Last year it wasn't possible to travel to our projects, and we also started looking into what was still feasible. This resulted in Held @ Home, through which we've been reaching out to our fellow human beings who have a bit more difficulty or are lonely. We've already visited a nursing home a number of times where we were able to encourage people and bring some joy. We will certainly continue with this in the new year!

Sharing doughnuts in a senior living facility
We entered the nursing home in Grootebroek with 120 doughnuts and more than 50 presents for the female residents. For a moment, it was a bit touch-and-go whether our campaign with the doughnuts in the nursing home could continue, given the lockdown that had been calledd...Read more

New website

We've also worked hard on our new website! Here you can read all the reports from Held @ Home. There's also lots of information about our projects, and we have a beautiful webshop with lovely and inspiring items. You can also donate to our projects, for example, by gifting a goat or a chicken. (Currently only available in Dutch, payment via PayPal). Feel free to take a look at www.projectheld.nl.
We are very grateful for your trust and support; together we have been able to move mountains! You are a great blessing to your sponsor child and our projects, thank you!

One or more chickens

The eggs from the hens are used for both food and sale. Families can also breed and sell chicks to earn some money. The geese are good for their own meat as well as for sale. Together we build the livelihood for these children.
Your donation contributes to the purchase of chickens for Project Hope4Hope in Kenya.

Goat
A goat is important to a family or project in several ways. A goat produces milk and provides meat. In addition, children learn to care for these animals naturally. The children see how they can make money by breeding and keeping goats.

Mixed feelings...

We look back on 2020 with mixed feelings. Grateful for all that has been accomplished. Moved by what everyone directly and indirectly involved with Project Held has had to overcome and endure.
